 The Indian River Blood Bank, Inc. is a not-for-profit charitable organization. We are an independent blood bank with no affiliation to The American Red Cross or any other blood bank.
The Blood Bank does not receive any grants or funding from the government, The United Way or from any other agency.
The Blood Bank is responsible for collecting approximately 10,000 units of blood each year. Local citizens generously give all of the blood that is collected. All of the blood and blood products stay in this county supporting when blood is needed for children in neo-natal intensive care units, those undergoing cancer chemotherapy, trauma or accident victims or as backup to routine surgery.
It is projected that the blood needs of this county will grow by 10% each year. On going financial support to keep up with technology and donor services will be needed to maintain and guarantee that the best possible products for the patients of Indian River County.
